Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day: A Perfect Way to Spread Love This Season

We always need more love in the world. We all need to take a moment to treat ourselves, to tell our friends how brilliant they are, and to cherish our kids so that they go forth and become the good humans our world needs.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re challenging you to spread a little more love in the world by treating yourself, your friends, and your kids. Check out our stop by stop guides on a fun day around town.

For You

The most important relationship that you’ll ever have in your life is the one that you have with yourself. Valentine’s Day can feel like a day where we’re required to celebrate other people or wait for our secret admirer but what if you spent some time admiring yourself and celebrating all that you’ve accomplished?

Stop 1| Buy Yourself Flowers

First things first, we’re going to need you to buy some pretty flowers to sit in a pretty vase and bring you joy all week long. It is said that most men receive their first bouquet of flowers at their funeral. Don’t wait to enjoy the small joys that life has to offer. Grab yourself a few bunches, or figure out what you like by stopping by Lange’s Woodland Flowers or Aster Gardens.

Stop 2 | Treat Yourself

We’re going to go out on a limb here and say that you deserve a little treat. Stop by Folklore Coffee and splurge on a special latte or walk over to Pollyanna Social and grab yourself a quick cocktail or mocktail.

Hot Tip: Folklore Coffee is offering a Coffee Bouquet which includes 1 cup of coffee, a mini bouquet from Lange’s, and a heart-shaped donut! Place an order in person or DM them on social.

Stop 3 | Spa Treatment

You already know how beautiful you are inside and out. Give yourself a little more VIP treatment with a massage, facial, or spa treatment from any of the award-winning salons and spas in Lemont Dontown.

Bonus: Find your community with a workout class at the new boutique gym, Treadfit Lemont, or a hydration and immunity boost at IV Wellness.

Stop 4 | Night Cap

After all is said and done, make your way to One Eleven Martin Parlour to indulge in any of their delicious cocktails or to try wine on tap.

For Your Kids

Children are hard-wired to love unconditionally. Show them how much you love them and help them learn the art of loving themselves with a special day dedicated to them.

Fun Supplies at And More Paper Goods

Stop 1 | Get Some Goodies

Start your date with a trip to And More Paper Goods and Three Stories Books to grab some art supplies, puzzles, decor for the bedroom or lock, and a few new books to read.

Each shop makes it easy to spoil your little ones with some seasonal red/pink merch that fits any of their hobbies or interests.

Stop 2 | Table for 2+

We love the kid-friendly meals at Matt’s Barbecue and Digs on Canal which are a stone’s throw away from Stop 1. You’ll find plenty on the menu for parents to enjoy as well.

Love Themed Birthday Party at That Girl + Co.

If it’s a nice day, find a seat outside and let them run off some extra energy. Both locations have space for kids to be kids.

Stop 3 | Take a Class

That Girl + Co is famous for their special Grown Up + Child Classes or the Creative Kids Art Club. Book your class directly on their website or make a note to host your child’s next birthday party in their creative space.

Stop 4 | Ice Cream With a Cherry on Top

Make your way to Creamery to enjoy an ice cream sundae or milkshake. Nothing makes a special day better than an ice cream cone.

For The Gals: Galentine’s Day

Sometimes our soul mates are the ones that have been there the entire time. Honor the relationship with your friends by enjoying a special day around downtown.

Pink headbands from 1 Happy Girl in Lemont Downtown

Stop 1 | Find Something Cute

There is no better feeling than stepping out of a dressing room to a chorus of praise from your girlfriends. Mosey through town while stopping at local boutiques for some retail therapy. 1 Happy Girl has a stunning selection of graphic tees, accessories, and items for that special occasion. Tatum Mae Boutique has gorgeous jewelry and trendy pieces for every day. Be sure to shop their exclusive Valentine’s Day boutique. Finally, Jilley’s is our go-to for special occasions or to pick up gifts for friends.

Stop 2 | Have a Great Meal

There is no shortage of delicious places to grab a bite to eat around town. It depends on what type of food everyone is craving. We love Wooden Paddle, La Dolce Vita, Barrel & Vine for that kind-of fancy vibe. If you’re ready to have some American classics, we love Digs on Canal, Corner Stone Tavern, Nick’s Tavern, or Hughie McClafferty’s.

You seriously can’t go wrong with any spot.

Stop 3 | Make Something Fun

The classes at Aster Gardens sell out so fast because people keep coming back! Get your hands dirty and create something for your favorite space. The menu of classes rotates throughout the year. You may find yourself making wreaths with dried florals, moss mosaics, and stacking terrariums. Every class is BYOB and a great way to soak up the healing power of plants with friends.

Stop 4 | Gossip Over Cocktails

It doesn’t have to be gossip but honestly, we think the drinks taste better when there is a little hot tea to share around. Grab a drink from Pollyanna Social, BTB Wines, or One Eleven Martini Parlour and admire your bartender’s wonderful skills.
