1 Day 4 Ways: A Very Special Family Day in lemont
Your kids are only kids for a few years. While you have them, leave the dirty dishes in the sink and make a deal that the MagnaTiles can be cleaned up later. Get outside and make some memories. Any day with family in Lemont is perfect.
If you’re traveling in from Downtown Chicago, skip the traffic: Metra’s Heritage Corridor Line is offering increased service on Saturdays through September 3rd. When you arrive at Lemont Station, you’ll find that most places are well within walking distance and bike-share rides are available at the stop and throughout Lemont Downtown.
10:00 AM: Challenge Your Kids with Laser Tag at The Forge
If you’ve got some bigger kids on your hands (5 and up), we don’t think anything is wrong with a friendly competition through Outdoor Laser Tag. Choose from 30+ game types and maneuver over obstacles to become the last one standing.
What To Know: All participants must sign a waiver and be able to physically maneuver the course. If you are in need of adaptable activities or equipment, try the Climbing + Zipline Adventure, The Jungle Gym (best for the under 4), or Kayaking.
Hot Tip: Book your tickets in advance online to save time waiting. If you’re planning for this activity on a weekend, check to see if the Foundry is open so you can grab a bit to eat before.

1:00 PM: Find some finger-lickin’ good food at Matt’s Barbecue Lemont
As a Father of 5, Matt built Matt’s Barbecue with families and good food in mind. Enjoy a cold beer or bourbon with a plate full of smoked brisket and chicken and rest assured that the kids will be full from hot dogs and Dippin’ Dots.
What to Order: Anything with a serving of their homemade banana pudding. We love the smoked brisket sandwich with a little extra barbecue sauce on the side.
Hot Tip: If it’s a nice day, plan to eat outside on the patio. If you’re stuck inside, take a lap exploring the old bank location (including the original vault) and read stories of the bandits who robbed the branch of $10,000 years ago.

3:00 PM: Wander into Three Stories Books to a World of Imagination
While they’re still young enough for a bedtime story, look both ways before you pop across the street and pick up something new from the robust selection of children’s books at Three Stories Books. They have selections for the littles and bigs and can even help you find a book to teach a life lesson like being kind or embracing differences.
Hot Tip: Be sure to follow Three Stories on Instagram to find out dates for story time or kid yoga.

4:00 PM: Close out the day with Ice Cream at Creamery Lemont.
A sweet day deserves a sweet treat, pop over to the Creamery for ice cream made locally. Sit outside on the benches and grab a taste of all of the creations your kiddos come up with.
What To Order: A vanilla soft-serve with Oreo crumbles and hot fudge on top.
Hot Tip: Grab a pack of the mini pies to take home or a few of their ice cream sandwiches to have in stop for a hot day.
