Summer Fun for Kids in Lemont Downtown
They say that you only have 18 summers with your kids but we’ve lived enough to know that they’ll be coming back to visit long after their high school years. Still, we long to create those magical summer moments while everything in the world still surprises and delights them.
If you’re hoping to create some core memories while your kids are little, we’ve put together some of our favorite summer activities and events. There is still plenty of time for summer fun.

Kid-Friendly Favorites
Discover at Three Stories Books
Throughout the year, check out Three Stories Books for small events that make a huge impact. We loved events like the Stuffie Sleepovers, Bedtime Yoga, and Rainy Day Craft and Game Tables. You can pop in the store any time for a unique toy that will entertain your kids while you shop. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for event news and updates.
Create at That Girl & Co
Known as one of the most popular birthday venues around town, That Girl & Co is known for their private parties where kids get crafty creating chunky knit blankets, setting up charcuterie boards, making wood art, or discovering something new. You can wait for their birthday or get together with a few friends to rent out the place for a fun afternoon. During school and summer breaks, you’ll find their 3-day creative camps ranging in topics perfect for your budding creative.
Explore at Aster Gardens
This isn’t your typical garden shop. We love Aster Gardens for its diverse array of plants, florals, and wreaths and even more for its fun lineup of weekend classes that will have you discovering a whole new world. Some of our most loved classes include a Make Your Own Marcel the Shell, a custom Terrannium course, Wreath and Centerpiece Making, and Flower Arranging. Keep their event calendar on your bookmarks for new, exciting classes.
Immerse Yourself in Nature
Before the first class bell rings, get your kids outside to learn about nature. The Forge can be a great place to play and explore but we also love events like Art Fest, Earth Day, and walking along the trail that inspire conversations about conservation, wildlife, and climate change.
For more outdoors, consider attending an event at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, and riding bikes along the I&M Canal.
Easy parking, walking, strolling, and tons of friendly neighbors make Lemont Downtown a perfect place to explore with your kids all year long. Follow Lemont Downtown on Instagram, Facebook, and subscribe to the Downtown Digest for the latest camps, fests, and seasonal events.
