Lemont is Unlocked: Sunday, October 13th
Lemont holds the key to the rich history of Chicago, Cook County, and the entire Midwest. You can find our limestone in the iconic buildings of Chicagoland and come home to find that same limestone in the blocks of our churches.
Lemont Unlocked returns for its third year, offering self-guided, behind-the-scenes tours of Lemont’s unique architectural and historic sites. The popular exploration of Lemont Downtown’s architecture, folklore, and culture returns on Sunday, October 13 from 2-5 PM in partnership with South Cooke Explore. This popular day allows residents and visitors to enjoy open house tours of Lemont with rare access to buildings in downtown Lemont and elsewhere.
During past events, participants enjoyed sites like the old Jail Cells at Village Hall and Tydens & Dyetrup, Blesch & Welter Building, with a history that dates back to the Illinois & Michigan Canal days.
This year, sites have expanded to include the Kopping Farm, The Pride of Lemont Mural, Old Stone Church, J.H. Tedens & Company, and the newly opened Marbella luxury apartments.
This free event kicks off on Sunday, October 13th from 2-5 PM.
Stop by the Lemont Downtown booth at Village Hall to pick up your map and walk to each stop to take a tour of the location. Village Hall is located at 418 Main Street, Lemont, IL.
