The LJWC Scarecrow Festival returns
Every year, we’re amazed by the sheer creativity within Lemont. Hosted by the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club (LJWC) and Lemont Township, the Annual Scarecrow Festival is a one-day event that showcases the weeks of work for families, businesses, and organizations that create scarecrows along the Scarecrow Trail — each year with a new theme and focus. The theme for 2024 is: "Be a Good Sport: Represent Your Favorite Activity."
The Lemont Junior Woman’s Club (LJWC) is a non-profit based in Lemont that seeks to provide financial and volunteer support to educational, civic, and philanthropic efforts that enrich the lives of citizens of the community. Each year they award over $50,000 in scholarships, grants, and community support.
The Scarecrow Trail is just one of their many fundraising opportunities that engage the community.
Scarecrows line the trail at the Lemont Township Woodland Sanctuary. During the Scarecrow Fest and for a few weeks after, thousands vote for their favorites scarecrows earning the lucky creators cash prizes. In addition to a year of bragging rights, the top three winners will be featured at the Village Trick or Treating Event on Village Green on October 26, 2024.
