All Aboard: Rails, Trails, and Ales is Back on Metra

This fall, Metra is offering a special service on the Heritage Corridor Line with service from Chicago to Lemont. From September through October 14, this additional service offers an excellent opportunity to explore Lemont and destinations along the I&M Canal–including easy access to bike and running paths, craft breweries, restaurants, and our vibrant shops & boutiques. The Special Heritage Corridor Saturday service will provide three round-trip trains, each equipped with Metra’s new bike cars to carry extra bikes.

The $7 Saturday Pass and Family Fares allow up to three children aged 11 and under to ride free with a fare-paying adult. Enjoy this affordable way to discover a new area in Illinois and enjoy some fall fun.

From 5-11 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, the Lemont High School Educational Foundation will host “Food for Thought: Taste of Lemont” near the Metra Lot in downtown Lemont. Lemont Historical Society: “Quarries and Illinois & Michigan Canal Walking Tour” | September 16, 10AM - 11:30AM
Get to know the history of Lemont that runs into Chicago and weaves its way into the national stage. Join the Lemont Historical Society  for a tour of the beautiful I&M Canal! LJWC/Lemont Township’s Scarecrow Fest | September 23, 2PM - 5PM
Enjoy the annual scarecrow walk with this year’s theme dedicated to the 150th Anniversary. Families will compete to win cash prizes with scarecrows dressed after their favorite Lemont era. Oktoberfest at The Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park is back and better than ever.
